Frank D. Yelian, Founder and Medical Director of Life IVF Center, is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who received special fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Yelian has over 30 years of experience in the field of reproductive medicine and women’s health. Dr. Yelian performed the first intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) case in the state of Michigan. During this period, Dr. Yelian studied embryo implantation for many years working with Dr. Randy Armant, and he has published many papers in the field of embryo implantation and human reproduction. He was promoted as Assistant Professor in 1993 in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Wayne State University.
To practice clinical medicine, Dr. Yelian received his additional residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Michigan State University. After completing his residency, he joined the Reproductive Medicine and Infertility (REI) fellowship program at Wayne State University.
During his fellowship from 2002-2004, he had the opportunity to work with several world-renowned obstetricians, gynecologists, and reproductive endocrinologists such as Dr. Roberto Romero, Dr. Kamran Moghissi, and Dr. Michael Diamond. Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Yelian joined the faculty at Wayne State University as Associate Professor. As a faculty member, in addition to research and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, he has focused on assisted reproductive technologies and minimally invasive gynecological surgery. Dr. Yelian has gained extensive experience treating patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, recurrent pregnancy loss, and premature ovarian failure. He has over 100 publications, and he has received numerous national and international awards. Most recently, he was elected as the Chairman of the Chinese Special Interest Group at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
In 2009, Dr. Yelian took a sabbatical leave to work at Kato Ladies Clinic in Japan where he mastered the new techniques and skills of Natural Cycle IVF and Minimal Stimulation IVF. In 2010, Dr. Yelian founded the Life IVF Center in Irvine, California, and now it has become a premier fertility center in Southern California specializing in Natural Cycle IVF and Minimal Stimulation IVF. Dr. Yelian is highly recognized as a world expert in the field of infertility, especially in treating patients with endometriosis and diminished ovarian reserve. Many patients come from outside of California to Irvine for fertility treatment. He also has many patients come from all over the world, so far we have patients come from China, Taiwan, Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, Russia, France, England, Germany, Italy, Holland, Mexico, Canada, Argentina, and South Africa.
Dr. Yelian graduated from Zhejiang University School of Medicine (a prestigious University in China) in 1983. He then received Obstetrics and Gynecology training and earned a Master's Degree at the same institution in 1986. He then came to the United States in 1987 and worked with Dr. W. Richard Dukelow at the Endocrine Research Center at Michigan State University. He earned a Ph.D. in Reproductive Endocrinology and embryology in 1991.
